This website allows you to create setting circles and quadrature encoder circles for use with telescopes. You enter and change the data parameters below and simply press the Submit button at the end. A PDF is automatically generated with your setting circle ready for print.

You are advised to work in the following way.

  1. Put the radius (not the diameter) of the circle you want in the Wizard text box. If the number entered is less than 15 then it is assumed you are working in inches otherwise mm. You do not need to put a mm or inch parameter at the end.
  2. Pressing the tab key will automatically update all the circle parameters to the right sizes including the paper size.
  3. You can still edit any or all of the parameters afterwards and then hit the submit button. The parameters are hidden unless you select the below. The parameters still work, they are hidden to make things easier for you.
Help is available by clicking on (and off) the blue question marks . .

Wizard ==><== WizardEnter the radius of the circle here and press the tab key.
All the appropriate variables are updated for you.
If the value is less than 15 then it is assumed it is in inches,
if it is more than 15 it is assumed to be in mm.
Predefined Templates Choose one of these templates to use. These templates simply
set pre-defined values below to help you, once you've chosen what you need,
refine it in the variables below. This work's with the wizard above so you can
set a 6" or 150mm circle above and then make it a half circle here
